With over
1,000 miles of streams and rivers and more than 100 crystal clear lakes,
this region provides non-stop recreational opportunities. Lake Almanor
is the county’s biggest lake at 4,500 foot elevation, with 52 miles of
shoreline
and gorgeous views of Mount Lassen. This is where the Sierra
Nevada Mountains meet the Cascades and form a four-season recreation
paradise as well as the northern gateway to Lassen National Park and
Forests.
In the summer time water sports abound: boating, swimming, water skiing,
jet skiing and of course fishing. Some of the fish available include
salmon, bass, Rainbow and German Brown trout.
There’s also hunting,
hiking, mountain and dirt bike trails, and horseback riding.
In the winter, there’s fishing, hunting, cross-country and downhill
skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and dog sled races. |
